BSCLS Executive Director Betty Staton received a humanitarian award in Albany this past weekend. Present were LSNYC Executive Director Raun Rasmussen, BSCLS board member Celeste Morris, and other prominent attendees.

BSCLS Attorneys Catherine Isobe and Jacqueline Griffin at the Albany offices of State Senator Velmanette Montgomery to lobby for additional funding for BSLCS’ work for residents of Central Brooklyn.

Attendees included Councilmembers James and Vann, Senators Adams and Assemblymember Montgomery, representatives of Senator Gillibrand,Congressman Towns and Congresswoman Clarke, and representatives from Attorney General Schneiderman and Assemblyman Jeffries.  Also present were Raun Rasmussen, members of the BSCLS Board, and Staff.

In late November 2011, LSNYC launched the Veterans Justice Project through which it will provide a broad range of legal services to veterans and their families in all five boroughs.
